Congress has the power to stop the war !
The Americans and the global community rejects another endless war, yet a widening U.S.–Israel conflict with Iran has pulled the United States into a dangerous and potentially endless escalation.
Recent military strikes have sparked intense debate in Congress over whether the President has the authority to expand military action without clear authorization. Lawmakers are under growing pressure to act — and they need to hear from all of us immediately.
Civilian casualties are rising rapidly across Iran and the broader Middle East. Hundreds of lives have already been lost, including children. Schools and hospitals have been damaged, essential civilian infrastructure is at risk, and UNESCO-protected cultural sites face potential destruction. Within the first 48 hours alone, at least six American soldiers have died. The human cost is already profound, and the consequences of further escalation could reverberate across the region and the world for years to come.
The United States is increasingly relying on military force while expecting violence to achieve what diplomacy has not — including regime change. History shows that such conflicts are rarely short-lived.
In my recent analysis for Truthout, I explain why a war with Iran would not be a one-off event, but a long-term global rupture with devastating consequences.
A military strike on Iran would not be a one-off event, but a catastrophic rupture in the region. Iran is not some isolated target on a map. It is a nation of 90 million-plus people with populated cities, hospitals, universities, and families who have suffered repression for over 47 years under the current regime and sanctions that have destroyed Iran’s economy. Infrastructure damages alone from a war would cascade into loss of electricity, water shortages, and severe impacts to medical care.
Congress must step in now.
Representatives Ro Khanna (CA-17) and Thomas Massie (KY-4) have introduced a bipartisan War Powers Resolution to prevent further unauthorized military action against Iran and to reassert Congress’s constitutional authority over decisions of war and peace. A vote could happen at any time.
Pass the Iran War Powers Act.

UNESCO-protected cultural sites and essential civilian infrastructure are now at risk of being bombed – putting millions of innocent people at risk, along with humanity's most cherished accomplishments.
We are now facing a rapidly escalating crisis that risks pulling the United States into another catastrophic, endless war.
