💔 NEVER LET GO – Episode Two: “His Rage, Her Ruin”

Stanley did not go to the bar as he had planned. He drove straight back home, hoping to rest in his room and clear his head. But the moment he arrived, chaos awaited him. Right in front of the gate, Stacey was on her knees, crying uncontrollably and blocking his car from entering the compound. Stanley’s face hardened with irritation. He honked repeatedly, warning her to move aside, but Stacey refused to stand up. She kept begging through her tears, pleading for forgiveness. When she did not move, Stanley lost patience and drove dangerously close to her. She barely dodged the car in time, shaken and terrified.

Still, Stacey refused to give up. She followed Stanley into the mansion, calling his name and crying out for mercy. Her voice echoed across the compound, and when Stanley finally stepped out of his car, he looked at her with disgust and cold fury.

“Stanley, I am terribly sorry,” she cried. “Your mother and sisters gave me no choice but to say those things. They wanted you to get married, so I lied that you had already proposed to me. I never knew Nkechi would tell you. Please forgive me.”

Stanley gave a mocking laugh, his voice filled with scorn. “You are a shameless prostitute. Who told you I am ready for marriage? Even if I wanted to settle down, you would never be my choice. I have dated countless women and you can never even make the list. I will keep living my life how I want. No woman tells me what to do. Now get out before you leave here with one leg.”

Stacey’s eyes widened in shock. Her heart was breaking, but she tried to stand her ground. “I love you, Stanley,” she said weakly. “You told me you loved me too. We shared so much together. You allowed me to live here with your family. You can’t end everything this way. Please, I love you.”

Stanley ignored her and called the gate man, ordering him to throw her out. When she refused to leave, Stanley’s anger reached its peak. He unbuckled his belt and began to whip her mercilessly. Stacey screamed in agony, trying to shield herself, but he kept beating her without pity.

Her screams drew the attention of Stanley’s mother and his two sisters. They rushed out in alarm, only to find him whipping Stacey on the ground. Mrs Grace was horrified. She ran toward her son and grabbed his arm, shouting at him to stop.

“You will have to flog me too if you do not stop this madness,” she cried angrily. “How can you be this cruel? What kind of man are you becoming? She is a woman. She has feelings too.”

Stanley’s chest heaved with rage. “I do not care, Mum. She is lucky I did not kill her. Next time she crosses me again, I swear she will not live to tell the story.” He threw the belt aside and walked away, leaving everyone speechless.

Bianca held Stacey in her arms, tears rolling down her cheeks. “Brother is heartless,” she said bitterly. “How can he beat a woman this way?” Nkechi knelt beside them, trying to wipe Stacey’s tears. “But Stacey, I thought you said he proposed to you. Why did he do this?”

Stacey could not speak. She picked up her handbag with trembling hands and walked away from the compound, her face swollen and her spirit crushed.

Inside the house, Mrs Grace could not rest. She stormed into Stanley’s room, furious and heartbroken. He was already in his pyjamas, acting as though nothing had happened.

“Stanley, I demand an explanation,” she said sharply. “Why did you treat her like that? What has come over you?”

Stanley said nothing. He sat on the edge of the bed, unbothered by his mother’s anger.

“Say something,” Grace continued. “You cannot keep disrespecting me this way. Stacey is your fiancée for crying out loud. Is this how you will behave when you get married?”

Stanley looked at her with cold eyes. “Please, Mum. I am tired. Fiancée indeed. Who said I ever proposed to that girl? I only helped her avoid embarrassment. She is desperate. I am not ready for marriage now or anytime soon. I want to enjoy my life. I will not allow any woman to cage me.”

Grace stared at him in disbelief. “When will you stop this reckless life, Stanley? You are thirty five years old. You change women like clothes. When will you grow up and live responsibly? You are a man, not a child. You cannot continue this way forever.”

Stanley lay back on the bed, stretching lazily. “When you are done with the emotional talk, you can go. I want to sleep. I think I will rest well tonight after getting rid of that nuisance.”

Grace’s eyes filled with tears. She turned and quietly left the room, her heart breaking over the kind of man her son had become.
